I actually received a phone call from someone claiming to be The Business Manager for a Logistics company wanting to do business with my company. When I told her we were located in Paris Texas, her response was ‘Now, is Texas considered in the South?’ You can imagine my shock – my only repsonse was ‘It just doesnt get any more Southern
I work in a business office that has control freakin fools in charge. Although the dress code is not strict, for some reason the fools in charge decided to go ballistic about what constitutes a sandal. One of the employees wore white sandals one day that had a strap between her toes. A big, huge deal was made as to whether this was considered a flip flop or a sandal. One of the supervisors actually made her walk to see if it made a ‘flip-flop’ sound! This turned into a big meeting and the next day a memo was sent out to the entire company banning any type of shoes that went between the toes or made a ‘flip-flop’ sound. How ridiculous is this? You would think there would be more important things to do! What a bunch of freakin control freaks!
For the past three months I have been working with this woman who has got to be the most overpaid lazy slacker I’ve ever known. Okay, so like I said she has been with our company for three months. She has a role here that requires 100% motivation to be successful. When she interviewed with us, she was up against another candidate who in RETROSPECT would have worked out much better but I digress… the last two weeks have been hell. I had been so busy during the first couple of months she was here that I did not notice how little she actually works. But, my boss (there are three of us on our team) went out of town for business for a week and I saw all of the true colors. Monday, comes in at around 10 am (most arrive at 8:30) and makes an announcement to everyone in our row that she’s dying for a coffee, does anyone want anything, and then leaves for a 30 minute coffee break at the local coffee shop (which she does every day). WHICH IS ONE BLOCK AWAY.
My boss is just a witch, plain and simple. I don’t know if it’s her “time of the month” or what. Perhaps she’s entering menopause. Whatever it is, I’m just about ready to tell her to f-off.
Simple, basic business questions are answered with “well, isn’t that what I just said?” What she claims are words she’s speaking are in all actuality just grunts. I do not know grunt language.
