Stupid CoWorkers

I used to work at a large department store chain. One day after I had just clocked in, I noticed several of the customers entering the store began coughing violently and the front end manager began complaining of headaches. I paid no mind to any of this and headed to the back of the store. Five minutes later they called for an evacuation of the entire store. Two and a half hours after waiting in the parking lot, one of the firemen explained what had happened. Apparently one of our dumber co-workers, who had obviously had no knowledge of high school chemistry, had dumped ammonia and bleach down the drain of the food court. For those of you want to know, they combine to form cyanide gas. Needless to say, he was terminated shortly afterwards.

As a computer monitor at a university, students typically have fairly stupid questions, but rarely do the monitors though. Just this morning a monitor was unable to print to the color printer, which is not unusual considering the state our computer lab is in. However, the head monitor was asked to look into it. He was unable to determine the cause of the malfunctioning printer and waited on a full-time support person to come to the rescue. This person arrived and immediately lifted up the printer to discover the cable had been disconnected. Just goes to show you how even people who provide help need help.

I work at a multi-branch distribution company and one of my co-workers’ daughters, 19 at the time, was brought in to help with some general office work, i.e. filing, sorting, faxing, etc. She had been there for a couple of days when she was asked to fax a one page document to one of our branch locations. She was told to simply put the document into the machine and press the “Branch 1” button and the machine would do the rest. When she didn’t return as soon as expected, another worker went to see if something was wrong. She located her in front of the fax machine looking perplexed. “What’s wrong?” she was asked. “Something is wrong with this machine. Each time when I put the paper in and send it, it just comes right back out. It won’t take it!”

We are on break at work and someone says something about men would be different if they had to go through delivery and one of the ladies there actually says “didn’t you see the paper the other night. A man did have a baby.” I said “what were you reading, the Globe.” And she gets offended. She also thinks you can get rid of warts by burying an old dish towel.
